Fitchburg Press is the home of writing by M. and J. Hoerger
When novelist Vladimir Nabokov immigrated to the United States, after fleeing both the Soviet and Nazi regimes, he emphasized to English-speaking audiences that his first name was pronounced “Vladeemer—rhyming with ‘redeemer.’” We believe this was not just some mnemonic but a window into how he viewed his mission as an artist: to find ways to use creativity—rhyming—to attend to orredeem personal loss. Alternating between close reading and philosophical reflection, our book Rhyming with Redeemer explores redemption through a commentary on Nabokov’s 1962 novel Pale Fire.

Our blog is a place where we share some of our stand-alone book excerpts, as well as other projects we are working on.

We created Fitchburg Press in 2022 as a place to house our creative projects. The name comes from the Fitchburg train line, which we rode in and out of Boston during that season.
